March 4, 2026, was Golden Cougar Marching Band Day in the City of Clovis, and Mayor Vong Mouanoutoua was present at District Governing Board meeting to celebrate with the board. Along with City Councilmembers Lynne Ashbeck and Matt Basgall, Mayor Mouanoutoua presented a proclamation adopted by the Clovis City Council in February recognizing the band and honoring their recent selection to represent our community in the 2027 Pasadena Rose Parade.
CHS Band Director Esmerelda Rocha Lozano led members of the Cougar Beat jazz band as they performed for the Board and meeting attendees in celebration of March as Music in Our Schools month (and March 4 as National Marching Band Day). Their lively performance of Earth, Wind and Fire’s “September,” and Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely,” were loudly applauded by everyone in attendance. Members of the Governing Board expressed their appreciation to the City of Clovis for recognizing this honor for our community and shared congratulations with the Golden Cougar Marching Band, wishing them luck in their parade preparations and fundraising efforts.
